  4. George Dixon replaced Spencer, and the group renamed themselves the Spinners in 1961. Early recording years: 196171. The Spinners' first single, "That's What Girls Are Made For", was recorded under Harvey Fuqua's Tri-Phi Records. One source stated that Fuqua sang lead vocals on the recording.

They have guested with Nana Mouskouri, Morecambe & Wise and Harry Secombe among others. Not to be confused with the legendary Motown soul group Spinners (aka The Detroit Spinners).
