Fans of big band and swing were divided on Thelonious Monk for awhile, but fans of jazz trios, quartets, quintets, and sextets liked him. By 1954 a lot of people had covered Round Midnight and a few had covered Straight No Chaser, Everything Happens to me, and Ruby My Dear.
