After the habilitation procedure based on the thesis on Christian ethics according to Max Scheler's system, the Senate of the Jagiellonian University unanimously approved the decision of the Faculty of Theology to confer the title of docent to Rev. Karol Wojtyła. He gave lectures on Catholic social ethics until the end of academic year 1953/54.

8. Juni 1997 · Hedwig sought this untiringly from Pope Boniface IX, who in 1397, exactly six hundred years ago, acceded to her requests and erected the Theology Faculty in the Jagiellonian University with the solemn Bull Eximiae Devotionis Affectus.
We owe its revival in the 15th century to Queen Jadwiga (1373–99), today a saint, who obtained a permit to set up the lacking prestigious Faculty of Theology from the pope, and bequeathed funds for the renovation of the university in her last will and testament.
