Tony Cahill The Easybeats were an Australian rock band which formed in Sydney in late 1964. They are best known for their 1966 hit single " Friday on My Mind ", which is regarded as the first Australian rock song to achieve international success; Rolling Stone described it as "the first international victory for Oz rock ". Cahill joined The Purple Hearts in 1966, when the Brisbane-based group relocated to Sydney. In 1967, he moved to England and played with Georgie Fame for a while.

Tony Cahill (b.December 20, 1941 South Camberwell, Melbourne, Australia - d.August 13, 2014 in Sydney, Australia) was an Australian drummer and bassist. In the 1960's he played drums with The Purple Hearts and later with The Easybeats. When The Easybeats broke up he taught himself the bass guitar.
Fleet left the Easybeats in the spring of 1967, as he was unhappy at the amount of time he had to spend away from his wife and young children, and was replaced by Tony Cahill. The Easybeats disbanded in 1969. A reunion took place in 1986, with the original members. Fleet, with the group, was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2005. [12] .
