In 1985, late guitarist Alex Nelson replaced original guitarist Tony Matuzak and was first featured on the band's only live album to date, titled The Murderess Metal Road Show. [3] In 1987, the band reached their commercial peak with the release of their third LP "Visual Lies" which saw guitarist Joe Holmes make his debut with the band. [4] .

"It saddens me to convey that Alex Nelson, guitarist for metal band LIZZY BORDEN, perished in a head-on collision the afternoon of May 17th, 2004. Alex Nelson joined Lizzy Borden, after replacing Tony Matuzak, on guitar before the recording of The Murderess Metal Roadshow.
Lizzie Borden (1860-1927) was a Fall River, Massachusetts woman who was tried and acquitted in the 1892 axe murders of her father and stepmother. The case was a cause célèbre throughout the United States and despite her acquittal, Borden remains a notorious figure in American folklore.
