Transcona is a ward and suburb of Winnipeg, Manitoba, located about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) east of the downtown area. Until 1972, it was a separate municipality, having been incorporated first as the Town of Transcona on 6 April 1912 and then as the City of Transcona in 1961.

Transcona. This charming little circa 1912 prairie town, which was founded to service the Grand Truck Railway, was incorporated into the city in the 60s. To this day the neighbourhood still has its own unique identity and “downtown.”.
Today, a visit to Transcona is a trip back in time to the glory of the railroad. Giant murals beautify downtown and a locally constructed steam locomotive is on display in Kiwanis Park. The Transcona Historical Museum is the only designated historic building in the neighbourhood.
