Clearly inspired by 'Smile' but without the satirical bent, this offers a long look at a national talent competition for pert teen twirlers, showing the the hard work needed to make the grade and the stresses put upon the girls and their parents as they compete for the big prize.
In Twirl, a made-for-TV movie that aired on NBC in October 1981, we travel to Meadowville, Texas, where they take their batons seriously. A competition featuring world-class twirlers will strain friendships and disrupt families. Until, of course, everything works out in the end.
