28. Okt. 2020 · A new resource from the California Budget & Policy Center shows California women face persistent gender and racial barriers in accessing economic security, physical and mental health care, and representation in elected positions. These barriers exist across the state’s 58 counties.
The 2024 Women’s Well-Being Index will be the first version released since the COVID-19 public health emergency, providing a much-needed update to understand how women are faring in California.
Most notably, the state has what is considered the most advanced parental leave policy in the nation, which legally enforces paid leave for new or expecting parents.1 Further, of California’s top wage-earning quartile, 35.07 percent are women—and only eight other states beat that share.

The report not only helps to offer a deeper understanding of what CCSWG does, but also provides the context for why the work is necessary and articulates the unique urgency of the moment for women and families in California struggling under the COVID-19 pandemic.
