The beginning of CU Boulder. We opened our doors on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 1877. We were able to build Old Main, our first building, with donations from our generous community and land that was donated by three prominent Boulder residents. 1877 to 1887. CU’s first university president. Joseph A. Sewall was our university president from 1877 to 1887.
The Colorado Buffaloes football program represents the University of Colorado Boulder in college football at the NCAA Division I FBS level, and is a member of the Pac-12 Conference. The team was a charter member of the Big 12 Conference before leaving to join the Pac-12 after the 2010 season.
