Vanilla Sky hatte es bei den Kritikern nicht leicht, ein Hollywood-Remake von einem gerade mal 3 Jahre altem Film lässt schließlich kaum einen anderen Schluss zu, als dass es sich hier um eine Mainstream-Vermarktunghandelt um noch einmal ordentlich die Kassen klingeln zu lassen. Entsprechend war die Fachpresse wenig überzeugt, der Film treffe nicht den "selben Ton" wie das Original, usw.
