Venkatraman Ramakrishnan is a US-born Indian biophysicist who shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2009 with Thomas A. Steitz and Ada E. Yonath for his studies of the structure and function of the ribosome. He has a BSc in physics, a PhD in physics, and a long career in molecular biology and biochemistry research.
