The county administration was in modern times located in Drammen. Buskerud was merged with Akershus and Østfold into the newly created Viken County on 1 January 2020. [3] On 23 February 2022, the Viken County Council voted in a 49 against 38 decision to submit an application to the Norwegian government for a county demerger. [4]
Gunnar Johannes Viken (born 9 July 1948 in Levanger) is a Norwegian dairy farmer and politician for the Conservative Party. Since 2007 he has been county mayor of Nord-Trøndelag County Municipality . Viken has been a member of the Nord-Trøndelag County Council since 1999 and a deputy member of the Storting since 2013.
Viken var ein norsk fylkeskommune som oppstod frå 1. januar 2020 som følgje av tvangssamanslåinga av fylka Østfold, Akershus og Buskerud. Dessutan vart kommunane Jevnaker og Lunner i det tidlegare Oppland fylke del av det nye Viken fylke i samband med kommunereforma 1. januar 2020, i samsvar med ynske frå dei to kommunane.
