Vittorio Jano (* 22. April 1891 in San Giorgio Canavese ; † 13. März 1965 in Turin ) war ein italienischer Automobilkonstrukteur insbesondere von Rennsportwagen.
Vittorio Jano ( Hungarian: János Viktor; 22 April 1891 – 13 March 1965) was an Italian automobile designer of Hungarian descent from the 1920s through 1960s. Jano was born Viktor János in San Giorgio Canavese, in Piedmont, to Hungarian immigrants, who arrived there several years earlier.
Vittorio Jano, nato Viktor János (San Giorgio Canavese, 22 aprile 1891 – Torino, 13 marzo 1965) è stato un progettista italiano specializzato nel settore automobilistico, al cui nome è legata una serie di motori, automobili ed altri veicoli.
Am 22. April 1991 waren es hundert Jahre her, seit Vittorio Jano, einer der grössten Konstrukteure Italiens, geboren wurde. Er war es, der aus der damals kaum bekannten Marke Alfa Romeo einen Namen von Weltruf machte. Viele Fachleute sehen in Jano den Vater der italienischen Gran-Turismo-Wagen.

Originally from San Giorgio Canavese, in the province of Turin, Jano graduated from the Istituto Professionale Operaio and entered Fiat in 1911 as a mechanical designer of racing cars under Giulio Cesare Cappa.

Jano was the key player in the development of Ferrari’s V6 and V8 engines. Sadly, Jano fell ill in 1965 and, following the death of his son that same year, took his own life.
