3. Mai 2019 · Two hundred years ago, on May 5, 1819, Unitarian minister William Ellery Channing spoke at a Baltimore church and delivered what would be described nearly two centuries later as probably the most important Unitarian sermon ever preached anywhere.
William Ellery Channing, America's most famous Unitarian minister, was described by Ralph Waldo Emerson as "one of those men who vindicate the power of the American race to produce greatness." Channing, born in Newport, Rhode Island, was graduated from Harvard in 1798.
