Prince William, Duke of Gloucester (William Henry; 24 July 1689 – 30 July 1700 [a] ), was the son of Princess Anne (later Queen of England, Ireland and Scotland from 1702) and her husband, Prince George of Denmark. He was their only child to survive infancy.

Early life. William as a young boy in Canberra in 1946, with his parents (far left and far right) and Lord and Lady Mountbatten. Prince William was born at Hadley Common, [3] Hertfordshire. His father was Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, the third son of King George V and Queen Mary.
