He made three wartime documentaries, the most famous of which is 'The Memphis Belle: A Story of a Flying Fortress' (1944). 3. Jan. 2020 · The first Wyler movie I remember watching is Wuthering Heights (1939), which I saw when I was pretty young. Obviously, when you see a movie as a kid your impressions are very different from those you have as an adult, and the main things I remember from watching Wuthering Heights for the first time are Laurence Olivier’s cocked eyebrows, and how handsome he was in profile.
William Wyler hatte den Stoff schon einmal 1936 unter dem Titel These Three verfilmt und Lillian Hellman das Drehbuch geschrieben. Wyler musste jedoch auf Drängen des Filmstudios United Artists , das aufgrund der Thematik lesbischer Liebe ein Verbot befürchtete, so viele Änderungen am Drehbuch vornehmen, dass er 1961 behauptete, dass dieser Film die erste Version von The Children’s Hour sei.
