Yann Arthus-Bertrand (born 13 March 1946) is a French environmentalist, activist, journalist and photographer. He has also directed films about the impact of humans on the planet. He is especially well known for his book Earth from Above (1999) [1] and his films Home (2009) and Human (2015).
Like a scientist, his photographic work stems from a continuous succession of questioning to which he endeavours to respond so as to explain the Earth and its phenomena in an artistic manner by seeking the sense, the graphic form and the emotion. Son livre La Terre vue du ciel, paru pour la première fois en 1999 et dont a été tiré un documentaire du même nom en 2004, est un best-seller mondial 1 .
