Since the author is extremely specific regarding the length of Yazid’s reign to the point of numbering its days, it is commonly assumed that the chronicle was compiled not long after that ruler’s death in 724.

In Yazid's reign, civil wars began in different parts of the empire. Yazid expanded the Caliphate's territory into the Caucasus, before dying in 724.
