Yekaterina Gavrilovna Stravinsky (née Nosenko) (January 25, 1881 – March 2, 1939) was a Russian and French painter and amanuensis who was the cousin and first wife of Igor Stravinsky. Born in Gorval, a village in Minsk Governorate, she spent most of her childhood in Kiev, where her mother died from tuberculosis in 1883.

10. März 2021 · Igor Stravinsky first met Katherine Gavrylivna Nosenko in 1890. He was quietly drawn to “Katya,” who was by all accounts a soft-spoken and intelligent girl. They shared a number of interests, and found common ground in music, as Katya was a fine musician. Katya was the daughter of Stravinsky’s mother’s sister, which made them first cousins.

Stravinsky's daughter Ludmilla and wife Yekaterina died of their illnesses in November 1938 and March 1939, respectively, followed by Stravinsky's own quarantine and the death of his mother Anna in June 1939. Stravinsky was still mourning the deaths of his family members when World War II forced him to leave Europe.
On 23 January 1906,Igor Stravinsky married his cousin Yekaterina Gavrilovna Nosenko or Katya, in the face of great opposition from the Orthodox Church, to which Stravinsky belonged. They had four children, Fyodor (1907 and Ludmila (1908), Soulima (1910) and Marina Milena (1913). Soulima later grew up to become a composer.
