23. Mai 2014 · Zora Folley was born in Dallas, Texas in 1931 and moved with his family to Chandler, Arizona in 1942. In 1948, Folley joined the United States army and began boxing as an amateur, winning the 6th Army championship within a year, eventually earning the All-Army and All-Service titles.
Folley, a 2-1 favourite going in, dropped Cooper for a seven-count in the 3rd round and had him bleeding badly in the last two rounds. Folley was knocked down for a nine count in the 7th. Birnbaum scored the bout 5-5 in rounds, but went to supplemental scoring.
