The Airbus A400M Atlas is a European four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft. It was designed by Airbus Military, now Airbus Defence and Space, as a tactical airlifter with strategic capabilities to replace older transport aircraft, such as the Transall C-160 and the Lockheed C-130 Hercules.

Der Airbus A400M ersetzt die Transall C-160. Der erste Airbus A400M wurde am 18. Dezember 2014 an die Bundeswehr übergeben. Aktuell verfügt die Luftwaffe über 42 A400M. Bis Ende 2026 soll die Auslieferung von 53 Maschinen an Deutschland abgeschlossen sein.
The Airbus A400M is a high-wing aircraft with four turboprop engines, a pressurized cabin and a rear cargo door, and is designed as a strategic and tactical transport and tanker aircraft. It can transport and airdrop personnel and materiel. Transports can be carried out in different variants. Up to 116 people can be accommodated in the A400M.

Airbus A400M, the world’s most advanced multi-role airlifter, has validated its ability to air-launch drones as Remote Carriers for the Future Combat Air System. The test involved a joint flight test crew from the German Air Force and Airbus, and a Do-DT25 drone acting as a surrogate Remote Carrier.
