Dubbed "the Eighth Wonder of the World ", Roussimoff was known for his great size, which was a result of gigantism caused by excess growth hormones.

He spent January 26 in the tiny village of Molien where he'd grown up, and then traveled back to his hotel in Paris. That night he died in his sleep of congestive heart failure.
