The co-writer, John Dittrich, who also sang lead on the RCA recording, recalled his childhood in New York State, Avon area, at the Five Arch Bridge, watching steam trains with his grandfather. He was observing the steam trains in the early and mid-1950s, towards the end of the steam era.
