This second campus was bounded by Emerson Avenue, Butler Avenue, and two railroads. In 1877—two years after moving—the institution was renamed Butler University in honor of its major financial supporter and primary founder Ovid Butler. Butler University resided on this campus from 1875 to 1928.
The Butler University Student Government Association (SGA) is committed to improving the student experience. By representing the student body, supporting the over 150 student organizations, addressing student concerns, and implementing meaningful initiatives, we aim to fulfill this mission. SGA provides a platform for student involvement.
She studies the history of health and medicine, spatial history, and early modern urban history. In 2023, she received her PhD in world history from Northeastern University. Her work also encompasses the digital humanities, with a focus on maps, modeling, and pedagogy. Here at Butler, Dr. N teaches courses on the early colonial period, the history of medicine, and digital humanities.
