4. März 2019 · THE SAD LIFE OF CATHARINE LORRE. Peter Lorre was one of the best character actors of all-time. Even the horrible movies he made were made better because of Peter's acting. Sadly though, Peter's personal life was sad and scary like some of his movies. Lorre suffered from an addiction to morphine and spent much of the 1940s trying to get clean.

Catharine Lorre was the only child of the Hollywood actor Peter Lorre, who died of a stroke in 1964. She survived a near-fatal encounter with the notorious serial killers Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono, who posed as police officers and murdered 10 women in Los Angeles.

But it was an encounter in 1977 in which one could argue that Peter Lorre reached out from the grave and prevented his daughter's savage murder by a pair of serial killers (via Classic Movie Hub ).
Lorre was married three times: Celia Lovsky (1934 – March 13, 1945, divorced); Kaaren Verne (May 25, 1945 – 1950, divorced) and Anne Marie Brenning (July 21, 1953 – March 23, 1964, his death). In 1953, Brenning bore Lorre's only child, Catharine. Anne Marie Brenning died in 1971.
