Christian democracy has drawn mainly from Catholic social teaching and neo-scholasticism, as well as the Neo-Calvinist tradition within Christianity; it later gained ground with Lutherans and Pentecostals, among other denominational traditions of Christianity in various parts of the world.

Contemporary Chris-tian democratic parties continue to associate liberal ideas with conservative values and Christian social ethics. These fundamental values are freedom, justice and solidarity and they are applied both to the political and economic process as well as to social life.

6. Juli 2020 · Unfortunately, the extent of the published literature on Christian Democracy is very limited, particularly when compared to its rival political philosophy, Social Democracy. In addition to the dearth of scholarly research, much of what is published is country specific or dated.
