The Kitty Hawk-class supercarriers of the United States Navy were an incremental improvement on the Forrestal-class vessels. Three were built, all in the 1960s, Kitty Hawk (CV-63) (1961–2009), Constellation (CV-64) (1961–2003), and America (CV-66) (1965–1996), as well as the variant John F. Kennedy (CV-67) (1967–2007).

18. Jan. 2015 · USS Kitty Hawk was a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier that operated from 1961 to 2009. She participated in the Vietnam War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and other operations in the Pacific and Atlantic.
The USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63, formerly CVA-63), the U.S. Navy’s last oil-fired carrier, began her final journey in January—a 19,000-mile trek from Bremerton, Washington, rounding Cape Horn (she is too big for the Panama Canal), and heading to a shipbreaker’s yard at Brownsville, Texas.
