    Notable for his role as Rolfe Gruber in the classic 1965 movie musical The Sound of Music, he famously sang "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" in the film.

    During his teenage years, he trained with the Sacramento Ballet and went on to study acting at the Pasadena Playhouse.

    Many years after he portrayed Rolfe in the film version of The Sound of Music, Truhitte played Captain Von Trapp in two North Carolina stage productions of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical.
