Das Boot. Am 29. Oktober 1991 veröffentlichte das deutsche Musikprojekt U 96 eine Coverversion des Liedes im Technostil. Der Song wurde als erste Single aus ihrem gleichnamigen Debütalbum Das Boot ausgekoppelt und avancierte zu einem der ersten kommerziell erfolgreichen Technosongs in Deutschland.
U 96 war ein deutsches U-Boot vom Typ VII C, das im Zweiten Weltkrieg von der deutschen Kriegsmarine eingesetzt wurde. Es wurde durch den Roman Das Boot und dessen Verfilmung aus dem Jahr 1981 bekannt. Der Name kommt von dem im bekannten Film Das Boot auftauchenden deutschen U-Boot U 96 aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. Aus diesem Film stammt auch die Vorlage für die erste Hitsingle des Projekts, Das Boot, eine Techno -Version der Titelmelodie, die im Original von Klaus Doldinger komponiert worden war.
