Edward Lee Thrasher Jr. (March 7, 1932 – August 5, 2006), known as Ed Thrasher, was an American art director and photographer. He was the recipient of a number of Grammy Award nominations for his work on album covers and won a Grammy for Best Album Package in 1974 for the Mason Proffit cover Come & Gone.

Ed Thrasher, an art director and photographer who designed defining album covers for Jimi Hendrix, Frank Sinatra and the Beach Boys, died on Aug. 5 at his home in Big Bear Lake, Calif. He was 74. The cause was cancer, said his son, Jeff. He also photographed Joni Mitchell's 1969 album CLOUDS and other rock stars.

Art Director Ed Thrasher, the bulk of Jimi’s original notes were incorporated into the final gatefold design for its North American debut in October 1968, sadly, with Jimi’s requested cover photos being relegated to the inner sleeve and the outer jackets incorporating other images.
