The singing trio helped epitomise the famed wall of sound technique that was created by producer Phil Spector. Bennett was found dead at her home in New Jersey. It is not yet clear what the cause of death was.

She was born and raised in New York City and was the younger sister of Ronnie and older sister of Nedra Bennett. Estelle and her siblings grew up in a musical family and were discovered by famous record producer, Phil Spector, in the early 1960s.
