George Alexander Graham Adamson MBE (3 February 1906 – 20 August 1989), also known as the Baba ya Simba ("Father of Lions" in Swahili), was a British wildlife conservationist and author based in Kenya.

With great sadness and regret the Trust informs you that, on the 23rd May 2022 Tony Fitzjohn died in hospital following a prolonged fight against a malignant cancer diagnosed in August 2021. He was 76.

George Adamson, the “Lion Man” of Africa, is one of the founding fathers of wildlife conservation. He is best known from the book and film Born Free , the story of Elsa, an orphaned lioness raised and released into the wild by Adamson and his wife, Joy.
