Hammerfall (offizielle Schreibweise: HammerFall) ist eine schwedische Power-Metal-Band, die 1993 in Göteborg gegründet wurde. Der Bandname ist dem Lied „Lucifer’s Hammer“ der US-amerikanischen Band Warlord entnommen, welches die Textzeile „The hammer will fall on you!“ enthält.

HammerFall was also nominated for the Swedish Grammy award in the Best Hard Rock act category. In February 1998 they did a small club tour (5 gigs) in Belgium and the Netherlands. Support was the Belgian band Double Diamond, who later became Fireforce. In February 1998, the recording of Legacy of Kings began.
