History. Coahoma was founded in the 1880s, and named for its location within Coahoma County. [3] Coahoma was a stop on the Mississippi Delta Railroad, completed in 1884. Geography. Coahoma is north of Friar Point Road, 2 miles (3 km) west of U.S. Route 61 and 6 miles (10 km) east of the town of Friars Point on the Mississippi River .
