Die Band The Doors wurde im Sommer 1965 von Jim Morrison und Ray Manzarek am Strand von Venice Beach (Kalifornien) gegründet. Der Bandname entstand in Anlehnung an den Essay von Aldous Huxley The Doors of Perception (Die Pforten der Wahrnehmung).
