He was convicted and later executed for the rape and murder of 33 boys and young men between 1972 and his arrest in 1978, 27 of whom he buried in a crawl space under the floor of his house, while others were found in nearby rivers.

Gacy ist der Titel eines 2003 produzierten Psychothrillers, der frei die Biografie des US-amerikanischen Serienmörders John Wayne Gacy erzählt. Dieser hatte in den späten 1970er Jahren etwa 33 Jungen und junge Männer ermordet. Der Film kam am 13. Mai 2003 in den USA als Direct-to-Video -Produktion auf den Markt.
Schon bald nach dem Umzug brachte Marlynn Gacy zwei Kinder zur Welt. Das Paar hatte ein hübsches Haus in der Vorstadt bezogen.
