Kings of Rhythm are an American music group formed in the late 1940s in Clarksdale, Mississippi and led by Ike Turner through to his death in 2007. Turner would retain the name of the band throughout his career, although the group has undergone considerable line-up changes over time.

He took his Kings of Rhythm to Cincinnati in 1956 to record for Federal Records. In 1959, Turner released two singles on Stevens Records under the anagram "Icky Renrut" because he was still under contract with Sun for several more months, and he didn't want to cause friction with Phillips.

Die Ursprünge des Duos liegen in Ike Turners Band Kings of Rhythm, die schon ab Anfang der 1950er Jahre bestand. 1956 lernte Ike die Gospelsängerin Anna Mae Bullock kennen. Anfänglich war sie nur Backgroundsängerin, trat aber mit der Zeit immer mehr in den Vordergrund.

Dance contains up-tempo, dance-oriented instrumental tracks from the Kings of Rhythm. Although this album shows Ike & Tina on the cover, Tina is not singing on any of the songs. Included is an instrumental version of their hit single It’s Gonna Work Out Fine from 1961, which is also the b-side track from the only single release with Prancing .
