Ludwig Philipp II. Joseph, Herzog von Orléans (* 13. April 1747 in Saint-Cloud; † 6. November 1793 in Paris), seit 1792 Philippe Égalité, war ein Mitglied der französischen Königsfamilie aus dem Hause Bourbon-Orléans und der Vater des Königs Louis-Philippe I. Von 1778 bis 1790 bekleidete er den Posten eines Colonel général des hussards.
LOUIS PHILIPPE wurde als Sohn des Herzogs PHILIPPE VON ORLÉANS 1773 in Paris geboren. Bis 1793 focht er als General in den französischen Revolutionsarmeen, ging dann zu den Österreichern über und lebte bis 1817 in der Emigration.
He fled to Switzerland in 1793 after being connected with a plot to restore France's monarchy. His father Louis Philippe II, Duke of Orléans (Philippe Égalité), fell under suspicion and was executed during the Reign of Terror. Louis Philippe remained in exile for 21 years until the Bourbon Restoration.

Louis Philippe I, Duke of Orléans (12 May 1725 – 18 November 1785), known as le Gros (the Fat), was a French royal of a cadet branch of the House of Bourbon. The First Prince of the Blood after 1752, he was the most senior male at the French court after the immediate royal family.
3. Feb. 2023 · Louis Philippe II, Duke of Orléans (l. 1747-1793) was a French noble of royal blood. He was the head of the House of Orléans, a cadet branch of the royal Bourbon dynasty, and was a cousin of King Louis XVI of France (r. 1774-1792). Despite this, Orléans supported the French Revolution (1789-1799) and voted for Louis XVI 's execution in 1793.
