30. Aug. 2023 · The Milanese entrepreneur Ferdinando Bocconi founds Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi, named in memory of his eldest son. In Largo Notari (Piazza Statuto), the University’s first seat is completed, following an architectural project by engineer Giorgio Dugnani.

Luigi Bocconi (1869–1896) Ferdinando’s first son, Luigi Bocconi, chose not to work in the family business. In 1896, his desire for independence and adventure led him to join the Italian troops leaving for Ethiopia as a correspondent for the newspaper “La Riforma”.
Figlio primogenito di Ferdinando, Luigi Bocconi sceglie di non occuparsi degli affari di famiglia e di cominciare la carriera di giornalista come corrispondente del giornale “La Riforma”. A lui è intitolato l’Ateneo voluto dal padre, per elevare gli studi commerciali al rango universitario.
