12. Aug. 2007 · Merv Griffin, who hosted a popular talk show and created the game shows Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, passed away in 2007 at 82. He was a friend of former U.S. president Ronald Reagan and a media tycoon who invested in real estate and hotels.
In Europa wurde Griffin durch die Sendungen Glücksrad (Wheel of Fortune) sowie Jeopardy! bekannt, die er in der ursprünglichen Fassung für den Sender NBC kreiert hatte. Beide Formate entwickelten sich zu den erfolgreichsten Spielshows der Fernsehgeschichte.
