Murray Edwards is home to The Women's Art Collection (known until 2022 as the New Hall Art Collection), the largest collection of women's art in Europe, and the second largest in the world (the largest being the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.).

New Hall, a women's college of Cambridge University, was founded here in Silver Street in 1954, with two tutors and sixteen students. In 1964 the College moved to its permanent home in Huntington Road. Location: Darwin College, Cambridge, CB3 9EU.

Come visit our modern grade II buildings and award-winning beautiful gardens. The College grounds are open to the public from 10am-6pm, please report to the Porters' Lodge before beginning your tour.
The College was founded as ‘New Hall’ in 1954; six years after the University began awarding women degrees. We opened our doors to just 16 students in that first year, who resided in temporary accommodation while funds continued to be raised for a permanent home.
