I was looking for the unused lyrics from the Let It Be sessions of Octopus's Garden, and was surprised nobody had written them all out besides the "it would be nice / a paradise" in the first verse. So I found a compilation of when they played Octopus's Garden and wrote down what I heard.
Also the lyrics make an actual attempt to, you know, say something about something, and I think Paul is the one who best understood the assignment there but John did pretty damn well also. Absurdity, fate, monotony, the small pleasures of trivial things – all of it can be found in these lyrics, the lyrics to a good Beatles song.
