Parlophon war die Stammmarke des Unternehmens, das rasch expandierte. Später kaufte Lindström weitere Labels hinzu, darunter Odeon , das dann in Deutschland zur Hauptmarke des Konzerns wurde. Für das Auslandsgeschäft hängte man in Frankreich und Großbritannien an den Namen Parlophon ein „e“ an, um ihn den Regeln der jeweiligen Sprache anzupassen.

Parlophone is an anglicization of the German Parlophon label, registered as a trademark in 1902 by Max Straus and Heinrich Zuntz of Salon Kinematograph Co. GmbH, later merged into Carl Lindström A.-G.. The first Parlophon records are pressed in 1910.
Invented in 1887, the gramophone soon advanced to stunning international popularity. The state of the art in terms of sound and price, the new technology was clearly superior to rival forms of sound reproduction like phonographs; the development of the shellac gramophone record in 1895 only enhanced the device’s dominant position.
