Titles are a customization feature which appear under the username on a banner. A player's equipped title can be seen by other players during online matches—it is shown under their name on the scoreboard, and the whole banner is shown when a player scores a goal.
Titles can be earned in different ways. They are unlocked at notable XP levels, at certain tiers of the Rocket Pass, or by completing special requirements during special events.
Level titles, given from XP, can be unlocked in online and offline play and across all game modes, with the exception of private matches. However, playing online games gives twice as much experience than offline games.
Before Patch v1.08 (November 9, 2015), players' titles were automatically determined by their XP level. Titles could not be customized or hidden. After Patch v1.08, players were given the option to hide their XP titles or swap them with other titles by going to the new "Title" tab in the garage. Then, in Patch v1.50, the level titles were revised. Numerous additional titles were implemented and the level maximum at 75 was removed.[1]
Along with the 2018 level progression update came the Rocket Pass, in which new titles are unlockable each season. Following is a table of them, sorted alphabetically. Those in bold can only be claimed via the premium rocket pass. After each title is the number of the rocket pass it was obtainable in.
