Nelson, one of the best-known rock and modern jazz drummers of the late 1950s and early 1960s, had several solo instrumental Top 40 hits and released over 30 albums. He was a session drummer on many other well-known hits. He lived in Boulder City, Nevada, where he continued to experiment with music on keyboards and piano.

15. Feb. 2022 · Sander “Sandy” Nelson, who was well-known for his talents as a drummer and as a staple of downtown Boulder City, died Monday evening. Nelson, 83, had been ill for several months before his death.
February 15, 2022 by Jean Widner. UPDATE: Sander Lloyd Nelson passed away last night, February 14th at 9:50pm resting peacefully with his daughter by his side. A Celebration of Life will be planned by the family and friends in the near future. As we learn more we will keep you posted on that event.
