Juni 2019 · “Storybook Squares” was quickly forgotten after its run, but in 1976 the game show’s producers opted to bring it back, this time as a series of specials folded into the regular daytime game show. The same format was used, except that parents and children competed as teams in the game.
Format #2 (1976–1977) The format returned for a total of six weeks on the adult version in 1976 and 1977. The major difference was that families competed (again the Xs were played by male contestants, while Os were played by female contestants), and that cash was awarded in addition to prizes.
Storybook Squares: Created by Merrill Heatter, Bob Quigley. With Peter Marshall, Kenny Williams, Paul Lynde, Marty Allen. A children's version of "Hollywood Squares" that featured actors dressed up as famous characters from books, TV and film. The contestants had to try to get three x's or three o's in a row to win.
