According to Dean, the inspiration for the song came from a conversation he had with Reno about a common frustration they both experienced: the feeling of being held back by the expectations and limitations society placed on them.

This is “Turn Me Loose” from the band’s debut self-titled album, Loverboy, released in 1980. It was a sizeable hit and still gets played daily on Classic Rock stations in their home country of Canada and abroad.
Loverboy - Turn Me Loose [rock] First concert I ever went to was 1985 Loverboy's Loving every Minute of It tour. The Hooters ("Day by Day") opened for them. Tickets were, I think, $8 each in WV. I saw them again in the late 1990's in Huntington WV playing at a Ribfest by the Ohio river. Big difference in venues for sure.
