Februar 1916 mit dem Charakter als Fähnrich in die Kaiserliche Armee ein. Am 28. April 1916 wurde er im Brandenburgisches Husaren-Regiment „von Zieten“ Nr. 3 zum Leutnant ernannt.
13. Apr. 2017 · On March 2, 1945, General Hasso-Eccard Baron von Manteuffel was ordered to report to Adolf Hitler as he left command of 5th Panzer Army following the Battle of the Bulge on the Western Front to assume his new position commanding 3d Panzer Army on the Eastern Front.
Von Manteuffel was made the commander of the 7th Panzer Division on 22 Aug 1943, returning to the Russian front. This command was given personally by Adolf Hitler in hopes that the able leader could turn the unfavorable tide on the Eastern Front.
