31. Mai 2021 · Yellow fever (YF) is a mosquito-borne infection, distributed in west, central and east Africa and in South America. The disease can cause a wide spectrum of symptoms, from mild to fatal. In severe cases there may be spontaneous haemorrhage. Mortality of these clinical cases can be as high as 80%, on a par with Ebola, Marburg and other haemorrhagic viral infections.
Yellow fever is a serious disease caused by the yellow fever virus. Most people infected with yellow fever virus do not get sick or have only mild symptoms. Yellow fever has 3 stages: Stage 1 (infection): Headache, muscle and joint aches, fever, flushing, loss of appetite, vomiting, and jaundice are common. Symptoms often go away briefly after about 3 to 4 days. Stage 2 (remission): Fever and other symptoms go away. Most people will recover at this stage, but others may get worse within 24 hours.
Most people who get yellow fever recover after mild symptoms, including: Fever and chills. Severe headache. Back pain. Body aches. Upset stomach and throwing up. Feeling tired and weak. Most people infected with YF virus have minimal or no symptoms and are unlikely to seek medical attention. For those who develop symptomatic illness, the incubation period is typically 3–6 days. The initial illness is nonspecific: backache, chills, fever, headache, myalgia, nausea and vomiting, and prostration.
