    Anna "Anya" Garnis (Russian: Анна "Аня" Гарнис; born May 26, 1982) is a Latvian ballroom dancer based in New York City. In 2007 she was a finalist on the American reality television show So You Think You Can Dance. In 2001, Garnis moved to the US with Pasha Kovalev to dance professionally.

    Anya Garnis (born May 26, 1982) is a Latin Ballroom dancer. She competed during the third season of So You Think You Can Dance and placed in the Top 12.

    Garnis started dancing at the age of 9 and has reached the finals at the 2004 U.S. Open Ballroom Championship. She lists Mikhail Baryshnikov as her favorite professional dancer. Garnis was the only person in her family to ever dance worked in a law firm in Russia before moving to the United States in 2001 and has been dancing with partner and fello...

    It was announced that even though Garnis was eliminated after making it to the Top 12 but she went on the tour as a special guest. In 2008, Garnis and Pasha Kovalev came in fifth in the American Ballroom Challenge finals.

    She and Pasha Kovalev became choreographers with a Cha-Cha routine in Season 4 and again during Season 5, they co-choreographed a Samba routine. They returned to SYTYCD in Season 6 to lead the "Choreography Rounds" during the auditions, and later co-choreographed a Jive routine. Garnis was an All-Star for both Season 7 and Season 8 of the show. During Season 11 Kovalev and Garnis co-choreograph a Jive routine.

    Both she and Kovalev guest-choreographed for the third season of SYTYCD Australia.

    She and Kovalev appeared as guest performers on a results show during the seventh season of "Dancing With The Stars". She performed with Kovalev on the international dance show Superstars of Dance, representing Russia in the duet category, but was then replaced by another couple in the January 19th episode.

    In August 2009, Kovalev and Garnis joined the cast of Jason Gilkison's Burn the Floor, one of the leading ballroom based shows in the world, during its stint on Broadway.

    In 2015, Garnis guest starred in Kovalev's Life Through Dance Tour. And in 2016, once again guest starred in his show, It's All About You.

    •Garnis was the first contestant on Mary Murphy's "Hot Tamale Train" which is now a re-occurring theme on the show.
